Abstract:The boundary conditions of elevated sections in the urban (suburban) railways are complex with multiple control factors. The rational overall design scheme is crucial. Relying on the Nanjing-Maanshan Urban (Suburban) Railway (Nanjing Section) Project, the structural systems, beam types, standard spans, pier types and construction methods for the elevated sections of the bridge are studied. Combined with the project characteristics, the standard bridge span of the elevated sections is the 35-m span single-box single-cell single-box simple-supported box beam constructed by cast-in-place method with supports. The bridge pier is a vase-shaped pier. The prestressed steel tendons of the simple-supported box beam is tensioned at the beam end. The end of each beam segment is equipped with a post-cast strip. The adjacent beams can be simultaneously constructed, which saves the construction time. The continuous beams or bowstring arch bridges are used to span the rivers or intersections, in which the bridge spanning the National Highway G205 is a 1-144.2 m simple-supported bowstring arch bridge, following Nielsen system. The bridge has the largest span of similar bridge types in domestic urban rail transit and urban (suburban) railways, and can be used as a reference for similar projects.
