Abstract:To systematically review the research status and development trends in the field of highway sightline guidance facilities and enhance their design and application in complex traffic environments, a bibliometric analysis is conducted on 627 Chinese and English literatures in the databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and Web of Science (WoS) from 1995 to 2024 using CiteSpace software. The high-frequency related words are mined through keyword co-occurrence. The theme categories are summarized using cluster analysis. The dynamic changes of research hotspots are captured by burst analysis. And the research evolution context is presented with timeline visualization. Thereby the knowledge graph of this field is constructed. The results show that research on highway sightline guidance facilities has evolved from early exploration of structural functions and gradually expands to aspects such as optical design, material optimization, driver behavior analysis and intelligent applications. The current research focuses on the adaptive design of these facilities in complex environments and their integration with intelligent transportation systems. The future trends will emphasize the refinement, multi-functionality, and integration of information technology to enhance the safety and operational efficiency of road traffic system.
