Abstract:With the annual increase in the level of urbanization in China, the geotechnical problems faced by underground structures in construction projects are becoming increasingly complex. When floods occur, the damage caused by the confluence of surface water to underground structures becomes increasingly prominent. The rational formula method is applied to calculate the water volume of micro and small river basins when the frequency of rainstorm is once every 100 years (P=1%), once every 50 years (P=2%), and once every 20 years (P=5%) during flood passage. Through the field investigations and the stress analysis on the different damaged sections of underground structures, the mechanism by which the "water basin effect" caused by surface water leads to the damage of underground structures is analyzed in detail. An in-depth analysis is conducted on the prevention mechanism of such disasters from the aspects such as the topography and landform of the construction site, the external causes of underground structure damage, and the failure mechanism. The theoretical achievements will provide certain theoretical support for avoiding such disasters in the future.
