Abstract:As the key nodes for urban road traffic evacuation, the intersections directly influence the traffic efficiency and safety of road network. Assessing the safety risks of irregular intersections is essential. Therefore, the irregular intersections are firstly classified based on morphological characteristics, and the traffic safety risk features are deeply analyzed. Secondly, a quantitative risk assessment method is established based on the "human - vehicle - road - environment" system. Finally, taking a typical X-shaped intersection as a case study, the optimization strategies are implemented from the multiple dimensions including lane function optimization, non-motorized system improvement, traffic facility upgrading and intelligent management control, which makes the safety level and traffic efficiency of intersections obviously improved, and also provides the better practical experience for the reconstruction of the similar nodes.
