Abstract:The pollution caused by the discharge of flood control pumping stations into rivers during rainy days is a bottleneck problem restricting the improvement of water quality in urban rivers of Shanghai. Based on the water quality and quantity data of discharge into rivers from 90 typical pumping stations, the causes of pollution into rivers are analyzed and the control ideas of pollution into rivers are proposed. Aiming at the combined sewage system and separated sewage system, a pollution control strategy covering three aspects of precise control, land-based pollution control and water-land cooperative control has been formulated. It is recommended that the pollution control targets be set based on the characteristics of discharge-into-river pollution from pumping station and the current problems of the drainage system. The comprehensive control measures for pollution from the discharge into the river, including source reduction, process control and end-of-pipe treatment should be taken. The research findings can provide a references for the long-term management of discharge-into-river pollution in Shanghai.
