Abstract:In the special action for the investigation and treatment of road collapse hazards, three-dimensional ground-penetrating radar (GPR) equipment is frequently used to detect the road voids. However, there are significant differences in the application levels within the industry, and there is a lack of effective self-inspection and supervision evaluation methods. Based on the investigation of road collapse accidents, the development status of voids is analyzed, and the types of road voids are classified. Combined with the GPR principle, the basic performance requirements of GPR technology in the detection of road voids are proposed. Through the comparison and verification of engineering practices, the necessity for ground-penetrating radar technology to meet the basic performance requirements has been clarified, which provides the theoretical and practical supports for the detection of road voids and the prevention of collapses. And the application level of ground-penetrating radar technology in detection of urban road voids is improved.
