Abstract:The urban "bee waist" area is generally regarded as a key area with unique urban location but important transportation location, and is often a key node for the smooth transportation of the entire urban area. In recent years, it has received increasing attention from cities across the country. In order to address the pain points in urban traffic, it is necessary to conduct the research on the transportation system and to carry out the multiple planning and strategies to solve the traffic problems in the area. By studying the Xiba Island, Pinghu Peninsula and Pinghu Bay Area of the “bee waist" area in Yichang City, and based on the current traffic forecast, the transportation system of the "bee waist" area along the river is studied from the aspects of transit traffic support, road network system optimization and public transportation efficiency improvement. A complete transportation planning scheme is proposed to build an integrated comprehensive transportation system in harmony with the urban structure, development, construction and land use, which meets the future development trend of transportation. The research content has entered the stage of engineering implementation, providing the strong policy guarantees for solving the bottleneck congestion of the "bee waist" traffic in the urban area of Yichang.
