Abstract:Guangzhou Science and Technology Education Town is a large-scale vocational education park built following the principles of "unified planning, centralized construction and collaborative operation". The concept of green and low-carbon development is implemented in its planning and construction. In terms of green municipal planning, the "high-water-level high-speed-drainage" ecological water system is planned and constructed according to the characteristics of Guangzhou Science and Technology Education Town being surrounded by mountains and water. The low-impact facilities are widely constructed in the parks, campuses and municipal roads to create a sponge-like ecological zone. The ecological slope protection integrated with the landscape is adopted for the slopes of roads and water systems to create an urban landscape where mountains and waters coexist. In the zone, priority should be given to the development of public transportation including the subway, and six different types of bicycle lanes with various functions should be set up in accordance with local conditions. In terms of low-carbon conservation, a reclaimed water system is installed for road cleaning and green space irrigation. The material-saving measures such as complete combination of temporary and permanent pavements, and utilization of construction waste are adopted. And the energy-saving and green environmentally friendly building materials are selected. After the completion of the Guangzhou Science and Technology Education Town Project, all the colleges and universities have moved in, and the town has successfully withstood multiple heavy rainstorms without waterlogging. Its green and low-carbon municipal practices have gained widespread recognition in the community.
