Abstract:Relying on the Dohazari - Cox's Bazar Railway Project in Bangladesh, the performance differences of railway bridge pile foundations under different geological conditions and design parameters in southeastern Bangladesh are explored in order to provide the technical support for the railway bridge construction in Bangladesh and similar international projects. The static load test was conducted using the surcharge method. In accordance with the relevant standards, 9 pilot piles and 11 working piles were loaded in stages to monitor the load and settlement data on real time. And combined with multi-case comparison, the test results were analyzed. The results show that 55.6% of the 9 pilot piles meet the settlement requirements, and 90.9% of the 11 working piles meet the standards. Accordingly, the piles that do not meet the requirements are improved by the measures such as adjusting the pile length or increasing the number of pile foundations. The study result confirms that the load test plays a key role in optimizing the design parameters, guiding the construction quality control and implementing the differentiation design in different geological regions, which can effectively ensure the quality and safety of bridges.
