Abstract:In response to the dual challenges of the increasing demand for lane changing and the complexity of lane selection on multi lane highways, the research team focuses on in-depth analysis of the key design points of traffic safety facilities on eight lane highways in mountainous areas. The research team takes the eight lane expressway in mountainous areas as the research object. Firstly, through field research and data analysis, three types of traffic demand characteristics are extracted: safety guarantee demand, efficiency improvement demand, and adaptability demand. Based on this, a design demand system of "safety priority, efficiency coordination, and environmental adaptation" is constructed; Secondly, from the five dimensions of optimizing traffic signs, speed limit strategies, guiding traffic markings, strengthening guardrails and isolation facilities, and upgrading anti-glare facilities, targeted design strategies and implementation points are extracted; Finally, it is summarized that the design of traffic safety facilities on eight lane highways in mountainous areas should follow the principles of "demand orientation, system integration, and dynamic response", and achieve a balance between safety protection and traffic efficiency through collaborative optimization of various facilities. The research results provide reference for the scientific design of traffic safety facilities on eight lane highways in mountainous areas, and help improve the driving safety and travel experience of drivers and passengers.
