Abstract:To make up for the difficulties of traditional data collection, the idea and method of obtaining urban road network data in a short time by applying Web API technical means are proposed. Taking the road network area within the Second Ring Road of Kunming City as the research object, by extracting and processing the travel vehicle speed of the regional road sections for 17 consecutive hours, the spatio-temporal distribution map of road network congestion is depicted. Based on this, a traffic operation index model is established. The results show that the road network in the area of Ring II Road in Kunming has obvious “double-peak” characteristics. The traffic operation index in the evening peak is worse than that in the morning peak, which is in line with the pattern of morning commutes and diversified evening travel purposes of the travelers. The representative functional areas are selected to analyze the occurrence time, duration and average vehicle speed of congestion from both the road network and road levels, providing a basis for traffic management departments to alleviate traffic congestion and formulate refined management measures.
