Abstract:Based on the characteristics of ultra-long single-bore double-deck structure of the Caobao Road Tunnel, the “vertical egress + vehicular rescue” scheme is adopted in the design of fire evacuation. However, there are no clear regulations on the spacing of vertical evacuation stairs in the current codes. To quantify the spacing of the stairs, firstly, the qualitative and quantitative analyses on the design of fire evacuation for Caobao Road Tunnel are conducted. And then the situation of personnel evacuation under different spacings of evacuation stairs is simulated. The result shows under the condition of the vertical evacuation stairwell spacing >92 m, all personnel cannot complete the evacuation before the safety exits fail due to the influence of fire smoke in the event of a fire. Finally, from the perspective of the overall fire safety of the project, the suggestions for fire evacuation design are put forward on the basis of maintaining the existing active and passive fire prevention measures.
