Abstract:To enhance the flood control capacity and improve the ecological environment of the Liangjiatan section of the Fenghe River in Xi'an, a comprehensive governance is designed and studied on the issues such as the existing levees constructed in the 1960s, insufficient flood control standards, structural aging and severe riverbed scouring. Based on relevant regional plans, a coordinated governance scheme integrating “Flood Control Safety + Ecological Landscape” is proposed through the analysis on river channel evolution and water surface profile. The ecological techniques such as slope revetment and honeycomb cell slope protection are adopted in the design. The top of the embankment is 8 m wide and 1.4 m high. The flood control standard has been upgraded to a once-in-100-year event.Results indicate that after the implementation of the project, it can effectively enhance the regional flood control safety, restore the ecological environment of the river course, improve the quality of the waterfront space, achieve the comprehensive benefits, and provide a reference for the governance of similar urban rivers.
