Abstract:As a key interchange node where the radial and ring roads intersect within the urban expressway network, the Jiyang Road-Outer Ring Interchange in Shanghai undertakes the function of traffic flow conversion and is positioned as a hub-type interchange. Based on an assessment of the existing interchange system, it has been determined that upgrading and reconstruction of the current interchange are necessary. Combined with traffic flow prediction results and construction conditions, this study conducted a comparative evaluation of two interchange design schemes. By comparing and analyzing multiple aspects including alignment standards, traffic capacity and project cost, the turbine-type interchange scheme was recommended for adoption. After the implementation of the project, traffic congestion at this interchange node has been significantly alleviated, the traffic efficiency and service quality of the road have been improved, which provides valuable reference for the reconstruction of similar interchanges in the future.
