Abstract:Taking the plate-type rubber bearings of an over-serviced bridge approach and ramp as the research object, this study comprehensively evaluated the performance degradation of bridge bearings after 30 years of service through visual inspection, internal quality inspection, material performance testing, and mechanical performance testing. The research results showed that the over-serviced bridge plate-type rubber bearings generally suffered from problems such as insufficient thickness of protective layer, deteriorated material properties, and significantly reduced mechanical properties. Although some bearings appeared to be basically intact, their internal quality and mechanical properties could no longer meet the current specification requirements. Based on the research results, suggestions for bearing replacement and directions for future research were proposed, providing a scientific basis for the maintenance and replacement decisions of over-serviced bridge bearings.
