Abstract:The pre-station transportation hub is the urban gateway and the core space for transportation. Its design concept urgently needs to go beyond the single functionalism and shift towards a comprehensive expression of regional culture, ecological aesthetics and the spirit of the times. The design of the transportation hub in front of Nanxi River Station on the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-Speed Railway deeply integrates the concept of "modern bone, traditional soul and natural attire" proposed by Academician Dai Fudong. The "modern bone" refers to the modern transportation organization and structure technology supported by high efficiency and clear streamline. The "traditional soul" refers to integrating the profound cultural heritage of Yongjia in the Nanxi River Basin with the tradition of farming and reading, which is injected into the space of the place through means such as spatial imagery, symbol translation and the creation of artistic conception. The "natural attire" means the use of ecological technologies, the implant of native plant communities and the simulation of landscape patterns to clothe the site in an eco-friendly and sustainable green coat. The analysis on this case provides a reference model for the local design of current transportation hub buildings in China.
