Abstract:The skid resistance of asphalt pavement directly impacts the driving safety of roads. To select the appropriate skid resistance testing methods for obtaining the accurate pavement conditions, and to provide a more comprehensive decision-making basis for formulating effective maintenance measures, a comparative study is conducted on the skid resistance testing methods of asphalt pavement. The commonly used testing methods such as laser texture depth, pendulum value measurement by pendulum instrument, and friction coefficient measurement by lateral force coefficient are primarily selected and compared. The study result reveals the significant differences among the different methods in terms of measurement principles, testing accuracy, testing results and testing efficiency. To enhance the testing accuracy, it is necessary to comprehensively consider the factors such as pavement conditions, environmental conditions and testing equipment performances. When necessary, a combination of two or more methods can be adopted.
