Abstract:Municipal sewage pipelines, as the “underground lifeline” of a city, undertake the important responsibility of collecting and conveying sewage and play an irreplaceable role in maintaining the urban water environment. At present, the sewage pipes constructed in the early days are gradually showing signs of aging and damage, and the current pipe diameters are increasingly unable to meet the usage requirements. It is an inevitable move to reconstruct and expand the existing pipelines with the above-mentioned problems in the built-up area. Due to the large current water volume of large-diameter sewage pipes, a full-cycle water regulation scheme should be supported in the design process to ensure the normal treatment of sewage. The full-cycle water regulation scheme is adopted in the intake pipe relocation and expansion project at a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Suzhou based on the above reasons, which comprehensively considers the factors such as pump selection, siting of temporary water regulation facilities, determination of water regulation pipe position, and configuring facilities for odor control and blockage prevention, and ensures the safety of construction personnel. The water regulation scheme formulated for different engineering time nodes ultimately ensures the smooth implementation of the project.
