Abstract:Based on a case study of a deep foundation pit at a wastewater treatment plant in Yangzhou, the control scheme for confined water under complex hydrogeological and environmental conditions is explored. After detailing the engineering geological conditions, foundation pit support design, and surrounding environment, and considering the existing site conditions, an optimized dewatering scheme of "predominantly internal dewatering supplemented by external observation and recharge" is proposed. This involves setting up deep wells inside the pit, dewatering wells outside the pit, and observation wells that also function as recharge wells, supported by strict dynamic monitoring and emergency measures. Validation through numerical simulation and field monitoring confirms that the scheme successfully lowered the confined water level to a safe elevation, ensuring the smooth progress of subsequent pit construction. It also effectively controlled the settlement impact on adjacent sensitive structures within safe limits. This provides valuable engineering experience for managing confined water in deep foundation pits under similar geological conditions in Yangzhou.
