Abstract:Against the dual backdrop of accelerated urbanization and prominent ecological environmental pressures, the concept of sponge city provides a new path for ecological transformation in road engineering design. As an important component of the urban underlying surface, the traditional hardened design model of roads is a key factor leading to urban waterlogging, waste of rainwater resources, and degradation of ecological functions. Combined with two practical engineering cases, namely the Tian'an Road Reconstruction and Improvement Project and the North Xingning Road Reconstruction and Improvement Project, the integration path, key technologies and practical achievements of the sponge city concept in road engineering are proposed. Through three-dimensional benefit evaluation and analysis, the road projects integrating the concept of sponge cities will become an important support in promoting the urban sustainable development.
