Abstract:Under high temperature conditions in summer, the temperature of asphalt pavement and road surface increases significantly, which intensifies the urban heat island effect and readily induces high-temperature distresses such as rutting, upheaval, and bleeding. As a kind of green road surface, low heat absorption road can effectively reduce the road temperature, improve the comfort of pedestrians and vehicles, reduce the impact of high temperature on the performance of the road surface, and have a positive effect on the low-carbon green development of the transportation industry. By analyzing the cooling mechanisms, applicable scenarios, and technical characteristics of three types of low -heat-absorbing pavements: Water-retaining pavements rely on evaporative cooling and are suitable for slow-traffic roads in rainy regions; Thermal resistance pavements reduce the temperature of structural layers via material insulation, yet exhibit high heat accumulation on the surface layer; Heat-shielding pavements enhance solar reflectance through heat-reflective coatings, thereby reducing radiant heat absorption, and are highly compatible with landscape integration. Accordingly, the heat-shielding asphalt pavement based on heat-reflective coatings is recommended for application in Chongming Eco-Roundabout greenroad. Based on practical conditions, an application scheme for the heat-reflective coating and a landscape-integrated design have been proposed, with an expected reduction of road surface temperature by at least 5 ℃ in summer.
