Abstract:To evaluate the current flood control capacity of riverine island, beach and dyke in key rivers and lakes of Wuhan City, on the basis of conducting detailed surveys and measurements of 62 riverine islands, beaches and dykes, four typical riverine islands, beaches and dykes are selected as samples. The factors such as the significance of the river or lake where the riverine islands, beaches and dykes are located, the hydrological conditions, the flood control requirements, the scale of the riverine islands, beaches and dykes, the population size, and the social and economic conditions are comprehensively considered to determine the classification and flood control standard of riverine islands, beaches and dykes. After assessing the flood control capacity, the governance measures and the flood storage discharge schemes are proposed. The results show that among the 62 riverine islands, beaches and dykes, there is 1 first-class one, 30 second-class ones, 23 third-class ones, and 8 fourth-class ones. Among them, 25 ones meet the standards, while 37 ones do not. According to the classification of various types of riverine islands, beaches and dykes, the corresponding management methods and development directions are proposed to ensure the flood control safety of the basin.
