Abstract:To alleviate traffic congestion, widening existing road bridges is a relatively economical and efficient renovation method. Taking the S32 Highway Widening and Reconstruction Project as the research background, the structural connection forms and joint types for widening new and old bridges are compared and studied. Based on the analysis results, aiming at the characteristics of the existing bridges on S32 Highway, the appropriate widening structures and connection methods are selected for the mainline simple-supported beams and ramp continuous beams. In addition, special design is carried out for the widening node across the high-speed railway. By controlling the displacement difference between the new and old bridges and adopting new-type bridge deck joints, the driving comfort and structural safety can be ensured. The prefabricated assembly process is selected for the design of substructure to achieve the standardized design, factory manufacturing and assembled construction.
