Abstract:Under the background of the construction of the Urumqi metropolitan area, an optimized planning scheme for the expressway network adapting to the development of the urban spatial structure and the growth of transportation demand in Urumqi is explored. Through the analysis on the traffic characteristics of the current roads, combined with the overall urban planning to predict the future development of the city, the combination of qualitative analysis and quantitative prediction is used to predict the future traffic demand of the city, and the expressway network planning scheme for the long-term development of the city is proposed. A long-term planning scheme of "two-horizontal, two-vertical and three-ring multi-shot" expressway network is proposed. The expressway network planning can effectively support the structural transformation of urban space from "single-center belt" to "double-center fan-shaped", and can also meet the development needs of urban integration in the Urumqi metropolitan area, which optimizes the urban functional layout, and improves the road traffic carrying and operation efficiency. The research results can provide reference for the research and practice of related road planning, and also provide some ideas for the development of road traffic in Urumqi.
