Abstract:As the first cross-river tunnel in Shanghai constructed by the immersed tube method, the tunnel of the Outer Ring in Shanghai has been in operation for over two decades and is now facing multiple issues such as structural cracks, segment joint leakage and pavement damage, which affect its operational safety and is required of overhaul. Through the systematic technical management, the joint repair scheme is proposed to implement an internal immersed tube joint structure, ensuring that the leakage at the immersed tube joints is completely cured. The new technologies and new materials of high modulus asphalt pavement structure and cement-based permeable crystalline waterproofing agent are applied to solve the diseases such as tunnel pavement and structural cracks. After the overhaul, the structural resilience of the Outer Ring Tunnel has been significantly improved, providing an important practical example for the overhaul of similar immersed tube tunnels.
