Abstract:As urban development enters a stage of stock renewal, improving the traffic efficiency of existing arterial roads has become a key focus of transportation system renovation and upgrading. In response to congestion problems on the Kehua Road section (Ring Road II - Ring Road III) in Chengdu, a research on reconstruction engineering schemes is conducted under the context of urban renewal according to the current road network conditions, land development layout and traffic operation characteristics. By comparing two overall schemes, namely underpass tunnels and overpass bridges, the factors such as spatial implementation conditions, traffic flow analysis, investment and construction period are analyzed. Finally, a combined tunnel reconstruction scheme is recommended. The results show that the proposed scheme can significantly improve the traffic operation efficiency of the road section and the nodes of the Middle Ring Road, and can provide technical references and practical experience for road reconstruction in built-up urban areas.
