Abstract:An expressway bridge crosses the South Jiangsu Canal. To meet the navigation requirements for the upgrade of the canal from a Class III to a Class II waterway, it is necessary to conduct an assessment of the anti-collision performance of the bridge. Taking a 2000-ton vessel as the design representative ship type, the influencing factors and calculation methods of ship collision forces are analyzed. A spatial finite element model of the entire bridge is established using the forced vibration method for stress analysis. The flexural and shear bearing capacities of the bridge piers and pile foundations are mainly checked. The results indicate that the stresses on the piers and pile foundations meet the code requirements, and the anti-collision performance of the piers satisfies the anti-collision requirements of representative navigation vessel types (2,000-ton class ships), which can provide an important reference for the anti-collision design of similar bridges.
