Abstract:Given that on-site welding in municipal areas is affected by factors such as space, environment and welders' skills, the traditional “experience-based” management model has problems such as invisible welding parameters and lagging environmental perception. To ensure the safety of steel structures, relying on a municipal elevated bridge project, and aiming at the characteristics of large volume, long cycle and variable environment of on-site welding of steel box girders, the key control indicators such as personnel, materials, machinery, methods and environment are systematically identified. By leveraging IoT technology and BIM platforms, the real-time monitoring and closed-loop management of welding process elements are achieved. The practice shows that this model effectively addresses the shortcomings of traditional management, and the first-time pass rate of non-destructive testing of project welds is over 95%, which effectively proves that digital control measures have obvious advantages in improving welding quality. Its experience and model can be used as a reference for on-site welding quality control of similar municipal steel structures.
